2 INSPIRED MODERN HOMES BELOW & FACING PAGE: The architecture of Suncatch came about after an eight year design and construction process. It sits on 30 acres in a sought after area of Southern California known as Rancho Santa Fe. Mr. Applebaum's clients told him that they wanted the finest home in the region. This request became this architect's thesis. The architect wanted the roof and its cantilevered beams to defy gravity, which they did. The appearance reflects a roof that is floating. The gable terracotta roof tiles (below left) were designed by Mr. Applebaum. Photographs by Mary E. Nichols
