The Sanford Winery itself stands as a tribute to California
Mission Architecture, utilizing sustainable building techniques
and hand-crafted wine production. The winery, named for one
of its founders, is built of hand-cast adobe brick and recycled
Douglas fir from an early 20th century sawmill building in
Washington State.
Sanford has enjoyed a renaissance under the Terlato Family's
stewardship and care. John Terlato, working closely with the
winemaking team, has brought to life the family's vision of
unlocking the full potential of the vineyards through sustainable
farming and thoughtful winemaking. Winemaker Trey Fletcher
is a careful, perceptive, and experienced winemaker who is
committed to crafting wines which are clear reflections of
the vineyards. Laura Roach is the assistant winemaker, Erik
Mallea the vineyard manager, and Auggie Rodriguez the cellar
master—all who play critical roles in day-to-day operations.
The entire Sanford team shares a common vision: to craft
wines which are precise, unadulterated representations of
their vineyards and which fully unlock the potential of the
