Dante Robere Vineyards
LIVERMORE VALLEY
After 30-plus years of friendship, most people have some great stories to
tell and a strong bond to show for it. In the case of Dan Rosenberg and Bob
Bossi, they also have a winery. In 2003, Dan moved to Livermore and together,
the two started traveling through California's best wine regions, tasting
and exploring. They quickly discovered a preference for smaller, family-run
wineries, which had an approachable, feel-good vibe that resonated with the
pair—and gave them an inspiration for their future project.
In 2007, Dan and Bob began volunteering and helping a few Livermore
Valley winemakers in an effort to learn the winemaking processes. The pair
dreamt of turning their hobby and passion for wine and winemaking into a
second career—Bob was an accountant and Dan an insurance agent. They
had planted a small Zinfandel vineyard in Dan's backyard and were making
wine at home. In 2012, with the support of their wives, Debbie Bossi and Ann
Marie Rosenberg, the pair decided to build a new winery from the ground
up. They found the perfect spot across the street from Sycamore Grove Park
and purchased the adjoining six-acre Syrah vineyard, and so, Dante Robere
began.
Their goal was simple: to make great wine. They've accomplished that with
varietals that include Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel,
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo, Grenache, Mourvedre, Touriga,
Barbera, Carignane, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Additionally, they
make upwards of seven blends from those varietals. The philosophy is to let
the grapes speak for themselves.
