NELLA TERRA ESTATE PINOT NOIR
gourmet pairings
Pairs with a plate of lamb
pastrami, pickled onion, and
coffee rye bread, shown here
from Salt Craft restaurant in
Pleasanton. The lamb lends
itself nicely to the acidity and
red fruits of the Pinot Noir,
bringing forward the complexity of the wine.
tasting notes
This Pinot Noir has balanced acidity with ripe red fruit. It has
aromas of pomegranate, cherries, and strawberries with a
peppery, dark fruit finish. The wine is dry with medium body
and mild tannin. Fruit flavors dominate the palate while the oak
influence takes a back seat to the primary fruit flavors.
winemaker's insight
Nella Terra is blazing new trails by growing Pinot Noir in the
Sunol Highlands, so every year the team learns a little bit more.
Its close vicinity to the San Francisco Bay imparts unique climatic
effects, such as morning fog and evening wind gusts. This
breeze, along with strict canopy management, minimizes the
appearance of mildew in the delicate Pinot Noir vineyards.
When it comes time to harvest, the small pinot noir bunches are
hand-picked and whole-berry fermented.
