In 2000, Dave's son Mike joined the family winery and apprenticed
under the winemaker at the time. Then in 2007, Dave and Valerie
decided to retire, handing the winery to both Mike and his brother
Vic, who operate the winery together today. Mike handles all the
vineyards and winemaking, and continues to produce consistently
well-valued, high-quality wines, even winning Best Merlot in the
entire state at the California State Fair Wine Competition. Vic
oversees the business and marketing end of the operation.
Solis Winery has become well known for most of its red estate
varietal wines including Syrah, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, and Merlot,
but also has a great reputation for the three blends: Baciami, Cara
Mia, and Seducente. Also, Solis Winery is one of the few wineries in
the state to grow and produce Fiano, an Italian white varietal. The
winery is ideal to visit year-round and hosts events such as Cigars
Under the Stars, Cab & Kabobs, and Member-Guest Barrel Tasting.
Call the winery or head to the website for more details.
