4 INSPIRED MODERN HOMES ABOVE & LEFT: Initially, the entry courtyard was dark and closed off. To open it up and let in the natural light, we created a glass cube-like structure that rises above the roof and allows light to pass through the lush vegetation. It keeps the space bright and vibrant without obstructing views of the greenery. FACING PAGE TOP: This house has distinct rounded walls, and we wanted to maintain those lines wherever possible during the renovation. But because the homeowner is an avid art lover, we wanted to ensure that he could also display his collection, and the living room allows for that. You will see recurring design details here: the woodwork on the bookcase mimics that of the home's exterior. FACING PAGE BOTTOM: To maintain the integrity of the home's shape, we expanded the master bathroom without altering the exterior. The new space does not extend beyond the depth of the eaves. In the kitchen, we kept the cylindrical shape of the room and used African Sapele mahogany for the cabinets—the same wood that is found in the rest of the home.
