Growing up, Malika Junaid used to travel to Europe every year with her
family and was fascinated by the different varieties of architecture she
encountered. That love of unique design combined perfectly with her natural
artistic tendencies, and Junaid learned, as she continued to travel, that
architecture can define an entire culture and civilization. Today, she and her
colleagues at the award-winning M•Designs Architects never lose sight of
the importance of function and enduring beauty when crafting sustainable,
residential designs.
Together with co-founder Alpheus Jessup, Junaid delivers more than 45
years of design and management experience in the architecture world
along with an impressive resume of accolades. In 2009, she founded
Green Learning Institute in California, that assisted communities establish
environmentally sustainable building practices through ongoing training and
education.
The next year she co-founded the Pakistan Green Building Council, a
nonprofit organization committed to promoting sustainable concepts and
practices to transform the way buildings and communities are built and
operated in her native Pakistan.
