ACTWO Architects
WAYLAND, MA
In designing houses and living environments, ACTWO Architects works
to inspire and innovate in the creation of transformative spaces that are
a pleasure to inhabit. ACTWO is a collaborative group of architects led
by Thomas White and Andrew Cohen, who work together with the entire
office on all aspects of the residential projects that the firm undertakes,
from small houses or condominiums to larger residences on significant
sites. The work reflects the creativity of the company's employees, with
each project representing the input of the full team in a cooperative
approach to design.
Their inspiration derives from the idea of the modern house,
which privileges spatial experiences over conventionally designed
programmatic elements. Spatial interaction and volumetric continuity
become protagonists in an ongoing experiential conversation within the
living spaces. The interrelationship between inside and outside becomes
paramount in extending the house's impact into its environment. The
expression of natural materials and the clarity of the overall forms are
part of the lexicon of expression that make up the projects that they are
most proud of, and creates a visual continuity that allows for different
stylistic outcomes within an overall clear intention.
