Amalgam Studio
NEW YORK, NY
Founded in 2016 by Australian-born Ben Albury, Amalgam Studio aims
to produce thoughtful, cohesive, refined, and sustainable built work. The
emerging interdisciplinary design firm, based in New York City, blends the
realms of architecture, interior, furniture, and product design. Amalgam
Studio was recently honored with an invitation to the 2020 ECC Architecture
Exhibition, running in conjunction with the Venice Architecture Biennale. This
high-profile exhibition showcases the work of 170 selected well-known—
and up-and-coming—architectural firms from around the world and will be
attended by an estimated 600,000 visitors.
Albury graduated with honors from the University of Melbourne architecture
program, before working with award-winning Australian architectural design
firms such as LAB, Bates Smart, and John Wardle Architects. After moving to
New York City in 2008, he became an Associate Principal at Kohn Pedersen
Fox, before moving on to ODA and TFI, creating a body of work across three
continents, and specializing in façade documentation, lobby design, and
residential interiors. He has over 20 years of diverse, real-world experience
across commercial, residential, civic, institutional, mixed-use, hospitality,
and interior architecture. In his spare time, he takes freehand drawing
commissions at www.bcalbury.com.
