Hammer Architects
CAMBRIDGE, MA
Hammer Architects' designs are informed by a tradition of modern
homes, particularly the ones created by European architects who
emigrated to the United States and designed houses on Cape Cod
before the 1950s. You can see this in the firm's sensitivity to homes'
surroundings, the use of natural light, and the incorporation of
environmental elements. Principals Mark Hammer and Don DiRocco
make up the firm leadership. A strong respect for context is critical to
their design approach.
With two Massachusetts locations—one in Cambridge and one in
Truro—Hammer Architects maintains close collaborative relationships
and provides substantial principal involvement in all phases of a project.
They offer innovative solutions to suit an array of budgets, schedules,
and program objectives. Both architects have impressive backgrounds.
Mark has worked in the industry for more than 40 years and has been a
part of awarding-winning projects like the US Navy Submarine Museum
in Groton, Connecticut. Don has experience with a number of Boston-
area firms. He joined Hammer Architects in 2008 and advanced to
become a principal in 2018. Their extensive knowledge allows them to
discover creative ways to meet and exceed homeowners' expectations.
