THE MODERN RESIDENCE
BELOW & FACING PAGE: We designed a house for an international couple set in a neighborhood along the Potomac River. As
a nod to Moroccan and European heritage, we created a private courtyard-style house with Moroccan roots. A large living space
replaced the traditional courtyard and serves as the heart of the home. American aspects include substantial construction,
sustainable elements, energy efficiency, and clear organization. Materials include steel, glass, zinc, and concrete—emitting an
overall substantial presence.
