THE MODERN RESIDENCE
FACING PAGE, BELOW & BELOW LEFT: Situated on a forested shoreline of an idyllic lake, the dwelling provides the family
respite from their city-based and plugged-in lifestyle. The exterior's dark color and reflective surfaces camouflage the building's
appearance from the lake, minimizing its visual impact. Common living spaces extend and connect to the outdoors, with a
perforated metal catwalk overlooking the living room and lake beyond. Floor plates and the folded roof act as "visors" to direct
views and movement.

"A building should be
intrinsically rooted to the
site's context: its light, climate,
landscape, and history."
