Architectural Collaborative
ATHENS, GA
Architectural Collaborative (Arcollab) is led by founding partners
Lori Bork Newcomer, Joseph Smith, and Gabriel Comstock who
are intimately involved in all aspects of the design for the projects
they lead. However, at its core, the office is a collaborative
studio environment where creative dialogue is encouraged and
embraced in the search for the best design solutions. And this
same approach is brought to the firm's relationships; they pride
themselves on their communication skills with both the client and
the contractor.
Arcollab strives to create inspired spaces and structures that are
strongly rooted in a sense of place and grow from the natural
and built environment that's around them, in effect responding
to and being respectful of each project site. The team is fluent
in styles ranging from the historic and neo-traditional to cutting-
edge, modern design, but they ultimately believe that a return to
thoughtful, regional design is one of the best ways to address the
proliferation of ubiquitous architecture as well as environmental
concerns.
With a creative process that includes research and
experimentation, sustainability considerations, ongoing client
collaboration, and the thoughtful articulation of details, they
consistently create inspired spaces that positively impact the lives
of the people moving within them.
