Snow Kreilich Architects
MINNEAPOLIS, MN
Though Snow Kreilich Architects doesn't design buildings to win awards,
it has certainly won its share in the past 20-plus years. Founded in 1995,
the Minneapolis-based practice was honored with the national 2018 AIA
Architecture Firm Award, the highest honor bestowed on an architecture
firm. One way the studio ensures design excellence is by committing that
each project will be led by one or both of its design principals, Julie Snow
and Matt Kreilich. There is also a rigorous focus on producing architecture
that innovates and supports the client's aspirations and missions, as well as
utilizing sustainable methods and preserving historic buildings whenever
possible.
The design process at Snow Kreilich begins with thorough research to
support its clients' pragmatic and the intangible aspirations, leading to
architecture that represents a precise ethos and mission. The work is
grounded in the specifics of each site's context, intensifying the connection
to place, history, culture, and nature. Through creative collaboration with
engineering and construction teams, the studio also provides integrated
building systems that are more effective, efficient, and durable. The studio's
work has been published internationally, and Princeton Architectural Press
has published the work in a series of monographs on emerging designers
from around the world.
