199 BELOW: Our top priority was to maintain river visibility throughout the home and to bring the outdoors in. Just as with the exterior, we used Fond du Lac stone that crosses the threshold of the oversized windows. This allows the natural beauty of the waterfront setting to permeate through the home. FACING PAGE: The raised, vaulted ceiling in the kitchen features dropped-oak beams to bring warmth to the space, while the sleek vertical-grain oak cabinets emphasize the 10-foot ceilings around the perimeter. We used stacked-transom windows—another feature indicative of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style. The space has double and steam ovens, dual sinks and dishwashers, and a separate full-size refrigerator and freezer. Here, the marriage of kitchen and screened-in porch creates the ultimate seamless entertainment area with a custom 16-by-9-foot Marvin door that pockets into the wall.
