Form Environmental Research –(fer) studio
INGLEWOOD, CA
The best rooms provoke thought and encourage imagination; they both
focus and transcend an experience; they connect to other places, other
times, and other worlds while simultaneously being in the present. This is
what (fer) studio calls Trans-relational Environments—and it defines their
work. Their goal is to provide a home, an office, or even a city that is a
structured solution to help their clients build the most creative life possible;
to design the lives they only dreamed of.
Founded in 2002, (fer) studio offers innovative, contemporary architectural
and urban design solutions that address specific challenges through uniquely
iconic and individually tailored architecture. To do this, the team of talented
design professionals believes that three basic conditions must be studied
and applied: form, environment, and research. Indeed, those are the letters
by which the acronym (fer) is derived.
For president and design principal Christopher Mercier, it's also about
practicing his love of art on the much grander scale that is architecture. His
artist's eye—he maintains a dual practice as a contemporary painter—is never
far from any of his projects
He and his team find challenge, inspiration, and commitment in serving
diverse clients and communities across the world, with project types that
include everything from cultural institutions, to educational facilities,
corporate offices, commercial and retail locations, restaurants and hotels,
and single and multi-family residences. In addition, they provide urban
design solutions for larger cultural, educational, and civic municipalities.
