THE MODERN RESIDENCE
BELOW TOP: Utilizing the material pallet of the main modern shed-style home, we created a new garage and guest house.
BELOW BOTTOM: The new living room and gallery hall lead to the master suite, visually terminating at the legacy oak tree outside.
FACING PAGE: Everything in this Warrenton, Virginia, home was designed to be the highest efficiency and lowest maintenance possible, with a whole-house
geothermal heating and cooling system and full solar array allowing the property to function 100-percent "off the grid." The ying-yang axis of this farm guest house
project is the fire pit in the south and hot tub to the north. The finished palette of steel-framed wall of doors, brass-screened and mahogany porch, and raw CMU
block wall materials all reflect the vernacular materials of the existing farm buildings of the site. A new swimming pond was created out across the 10-acre front yard.
