the suite life
They may be the private havens of the home, but that doesn't make master suites any
less magnificent in my eyes. I like to think that we have the power to turn sweet dreams
into sophisticated realities with bedrooms that beckon dwellers to decompress amidst
restful elegance. Harmonious fusions of tone and texture work together to exude an
overwhelming sense of tranquility, with a prioritization toward inviting, natural materials.
Although the bed is generally the focal point, I like to look to other key areas in a
bedroom to accentuate. Maybe it's the warmth of a statement fireplace surrounded
by a composed seating vignette; or the wonder of a spectacular view that beautifully
invades the room, acting as its own artwork; or even the whirl of a technology-forward
entertainment center that disappears at the touch of a button. Favorite family photos
can also be celebrated in a bedroom, standing in for or joining other notable art for an
extra-meaningful finish to walls. Ultimately, with bedrooms, the personalized aspect is
paramount—and comfort is key.
Master suites are one thing, but I also gravitate toward kids' bedrooms as an oft-
less emphasized but equally engaging space that provides another type of unique
personalization opportunity. It's all about creating rooms that are fun and reflective of the
children while being versatile enough to grow with them through the years.
