6 s t r u c t u r e + d e s i g n TOP: The mountain retreat's master bedroom was designed to reflect the ambience of a luxury resort. The headboard wall of the bed is composed of panels of wood upholstered in leather and installed in a layered manner for added dimensionality. The fireplace is detailed in copper cladding on a brick pattern with clavos accents. The copper motif is likewise repeated in the bowed nightstands and the lamps, which are constructed from copper vases—both of which Debra designed for the space. BOTTOM: Like the master bedroom, the master bath is nothing short of resort-quality with a luxurious spa-like mood. The slate tiles feature an inset of river rock for an organic finish while the pattern above the tub represents the fluidity of a wave. FACING PAGE: The statement-making black river rock fireplace commands attention as the focal point of the great room. It is built out from the flat wall for added dimension and topped with iron and lit onyx, which becomes something of an art piece. The design immediately directs the eye upwards to the ceiling that was once a standard rectangle structure but was intriguingly transformed through beams with metal mesh detail. Previous Pages: This family room in North Scottsdale balances a focal point wall that features a honed golden green slate fireplace and entertainment area with the adjacent striking view to the scenery outside. The Jonathan David furniture pieces combine sophisticatedly bold lines with buttery rich coziness and were designed specifically for this space. Light and air work around and through the structure of the tables, which unite walnut, glass, and copper to impactful effect. The fireplace echoes the copper theme in its linear bands, imbuing the space with additional cohesiveness. All elements were designed in harmony to produce a sense of tranquil beauty melded with a comfortable, homey feel.
