Hosting a wedding that includes many different events at a single location can be both a blessing and
a challenge. It's wonderful for the guests, who don't have to worry about transporting themselves
from party to party, but can pose a logistical quandary for the coordinator, who has to move large
groups of people from one room to the next in the most effective and efficient way possible. After
the ceremony, guests were invited upstairs for cocktails while the staff completely transformed the
room for the reception. Gone was the Ganesh-carved mandap, and in its place were dozens of large
round tables outfitted with sumptuous linens and acres of fresh flowers. Each tiny detail, from the
candles to the silky chair covers, had to be accounted for. This is the type of detailed design that
would—in a perfect world—benefit from hours of setup, but in reality had to be exactly in place in
under an hour. Once the reception room was ready, the process of moving hundreds of guests back
downstairs began. Luckily the looks of amazement on their faces when they see the room they had
only just left now looking completely different was priceless.
