Shimmering
SOIRéE
So many of the couple's friends had recently gotten married or were about to, so it was vital that this
wedding be unique yet stay true to the couple's vision. The ceremony was steeped in tradition to
show how grounded the couple is in their religion. Even moments like the jaimala were orchestrated
to be as dramatic as possible, with rose petals fluttering down over the bride and groom as they
exchanged garlands. At the Hilton, we began the sangeet with the brilliant colors of lime green and
hot pink, and then the next day we switched out the décor to create the soft, shimmery, crystal-
encrusted reception. We relied on an abundance of crystals—a nod to the bride's dress—to make
everything in the reception room glisten, from the embellished chair caps to the sparkling cylinder
candle vases. Oversized canopies of dripping crystals and rose petal garlands hung above the mirror-
topped tables, surrounding the guests in glitter. A snow-white dance floor with a diamond-shaped
mirror inlay provided further reflection, and even an acrylic table for the cake—with, of course, a
skirt of crystals as well as a canopy—continued the theme. It was only surpassed by the beauty of
the bride.
