SAN ANTONIO PARTY
Remarkable
To kick things off, the bride hosted a bubble party in her hotel suite. The girls enjoyed plush robes,
pink feather boas, champagne, martinis, and an afternoon watching chick flicks while the groom and
his friends partook of a scotch and cigar party on the golf course terrace. The bright, merry feel of a
festival was the goal of the sangeet, with Indian paper stars and lights strung from the balconies in
the hotel's atrium. A covered canopy of gold chiffon on the lawn was also planned for the wedding
ceremony, ensuring that the guests would be comfortable in San Antonio's May heat. Unfortunately
good plans don't always come about, and that's where it really helps to have a coordinator. When
it became clear that the extreme rain and wind were not going to let up, we adapted to fit all the
events into the hotel's ballroom. However, just because we were inside at the last minute didn't mean
that the bride had to give up some of her favorite design elements. The spiral aisle the bride desired
so that she could enter among her guests was recreated, and the gold chiffon made an appearance —
after some lightning-quick onsite sewing—as the mandap's backdrop. This change in plans also
affected the reception setup, which we completed in a well-choreographed feat of organization.
