182 WEST PALM BEACH PART I E legant Two cultures, two nationalities, two weddings. The first, held in West Palm Beach, Florida, was an absolute confection. The staff at The Breakers outdid themselves in arranging what we call the "white dress ceremony," a wedding that didn't focus on Indian traditions but still served as the first union for the couple. I was there mainly to attend to the groom's family, who would be hosting the Indian wedding upon their return to Louisville. The bride was Brazilian, as were her family, friends, and all the bridesmaids, and didn't speak any English. The Breakers staff made sure to produce an impeccable design that needed no translation. Signature drinks were offered to guests while string musicians played on the lawn before the ceremony. After, appetizers were offered poolside before guests were invited into the hotel's restaurant for a sumptuous feast. The chef really outdid himself, especially with the traditional Brazilian dessert buffet. The fathers of the bride and groom, even though they didn't speak the same language, somehow choreographed a dance to Psy's "Gangnam Style." It was such a hit that they consented to an encore at the second wedding.
