ORLANDO AFFAIR
Alfresco
Sometimes just one wedding isn't enough, especially if there is family in two different locales. First
the couple was married in Orlando at a lavish celebration thrown by the bride's family and decorated
by Occasions by Shangri-La. Cindy Saunders of Signature Weddings & Events made sure that there
was hospitality in abundance at each of the traditional events. From the ice sculpture to the wishing
tree to the exciting entertainment, everything about the celebration was memorable. Even as a
veteran coordinator, I was wowed! Upon returning to Houston, the groom's family displayed their
hospitality by hosting a second wedding. The groom's father is regarded as a sort of wedding expert
in the local Indian community, known for helping others plan and execute their festivities, so his own
son's wedding was the perfect chance to exhibit his wealth of knowledge. We concentrated a lot
of décor in the hotel's foyer, which is an area people typically neglect, transforming it with a lemon,
grey, and white color palette and plenty of lounge-type seating. Even with only half the foyer to work
with, the overall effect was still utterly memorable. The king's feast was a collaboration between the
groom's father, the hotel's executive chef, and Narin's Bombay Brasserie.
