Being there every step of the way for the intimate process of coordinating a wedding often means I
end up feeling like part of the family—or, at least, someone who's there for daughter after daughter in
the same family. Just two weeks after I coordinated her sister's wedding in San Francisco, I returned
to Houston for the second daughter's celebration. We played up The St. Regis' recent renovation by
shining a spotlight on the 12-foot-long crystal chandelier that hung directly over the aisle. Shimmery
gold fabric draped elegantly down from the sides, sweeping out and over the guests. This design
made the chandelier look almost like part of the mandap, tying the whole room together. We held
each event in this same room, so transforming the space while still highlighting its superb design
qualities was a challenge we gladly accepted. The garba had a peacock theme, and all those deep,
saturated colors made the crystals shine even brighter in contrast. By the time we reached the
sophisticated reception, the chandelier felt like an indispensible part of the décor.
