CULTURAL FUSION
Surprising
A wedding that's steeped in tradition is even more memorable when there are flashes of the couple's
true personality. With the theme of "cowboys and Indians" in mind, we coordinated a respectful
ceremony that was bookended by events that allowed us to show off the bride and groom's Lone Star
roots. A lovely wrought-iron mandap was threaded with traditional flower garlands, establishing the
perfect backdrop for the ceremony. The groom's baraat was traveled not by horse or elephant; rather,
he and his groomsmen arrived via a pickup truck—that's true Texas horsepower. A Tex-Mex-meets-
Indian garba featured a menu that included paneer tacos and a station offering freshly prepared
guacamole. At the reception, a special performance that mixed Bollywood dance styles with country
line dancing—complete with dueling banjos and a dhol drummer—really captured what the couple
was all about. Simple yet stylish centerpieces of driftwood, bandanas, and flowers were interspersed
with more down-home vessels: cowboy boots and upended hats. Who would have ever thought
Western wear could look so elegant when paired with snow-white calla lilies and hydrangeas?
