Sweet Privacy
E
ntertainment and privacy were the two priorities for this large family home. One of the owners
often works at home, so a home office was essential. So too was a private master suite so the
owners could retreat from the hustle and bustle that typically comes with a house full of guests.
The home office is located all the way to the left of the house in the linear design, making it a destination,
not a pass-through location. Its orientation to the rest of the house makes it a quiet space for productive
remote work. On the main floor, the living room is large and features a television for movie nights. It
also serves as a flexible gathering space. However, on the other side of one wall and adjacent to the
dining room is a small nook with its own fireplace. The space provides a cozy retreat for enjoying a cup
of coffee and a good book.
Glass runs along one side of the house, and the screened porch—right off the dining room—was shifted
about 15 degrees to capitalize on the view. Light fills the main living areas, as well as the stairwell. On
the top floor, an adult bunkroom houses overnight guests. No matter which room you visit in this home,
it's inviting and comfortable—whether there are two people in the space or 14.
