e "J House"
W
hen the owners came to Seabrook, they found a stunning lot and immediately fell in love. With
beautiful views of the ocean over the marsh and an unusual shape, the lot was unbuildable
for years—no one could figure out how to build a house on it. No one, that is, until Marc Camens.
Nicknamed the "J House," the home is laid out in the shape of the letter "J." The fact that the wife's
name also starts with the letter was a fun coincidence.
The "J" shape capitalizes on the unusual lot and allows for beautiful views throughout the house. The
common areas flow gently into one another, always with a view to the ocean. The living room features
an array of textures, from the ceiling to the fireplace, millwork, and floor. The space opens to the
dining room with its large windows, fine detailing, and arched transition to the kitchen. Beyond the
arch, a substantial kitchen island provides food preparation and dining space. Custom cabinetry and
professional-grade appliances carry the sophistication of the home into the more utilitarian spaces.
On the other side of the floor plan sits the master suite, with the husband's office above it. One of the
most noteworthy aspects of this home is that it lives for the owners. It is incredibly zoned, with a front
and back staircase, and two separate home offices for privacy.
