5 ABOVE TOP: A handmade solid table is something that will stand the test of time, while plants rooting in the vases atop it are a simple décor choice that make a statement of their own. The stacked stone you see in the distance is a wood-burning fireplace, so we knew stacks of wood would be part of the patio view. Metal décor on either side of the doors balances the wood elements, along with the mirrored clock and metal and glass light fixture. All throughout is that organic feel, making this a welcoming room where you'd want to sit for a delicious meal. Photograph by Michael Patrick Lefebvre ABOVE LEFT: The client had a vision when it came to the kitchen island: instead of barstools at the island, they wanted a banquette-style seat so she and her husband could dine side-by-side while overlooking their expansive ocean view. An American-made solid-maple table and a few chairs to match create a vignette that prioritizes the view. With light and sun streaming in and a view of the flower gardens and bird feeder, the effect is like being at a bed-and-breakfast every day.
