4 INSPIRED INTERIORS ABOVE TOP: The biggest challenge when designing a home with a consistent neutral color palette is finding ways to offer interest and depth. Our solution was to incorporate an abundance of texture. The grey striae glazed walls create contrast against the white trim and are the perfect backdrop for the dark walnut-stained table and server. The dining chairs, which are upholstered in a faux satin, are actually easy-to-clean vinyl—beautiful and practical. ABOVE BOTTOM: A blue Ikat print fabric was the inspiration for this New York City apartment dining room. Our client's collection of Delft pottery coordinates perfectly with the fabrics for the window treatments and dining chairs. The combination of traditional Louis XVI chairs and antique brass chandelier with the contemporary walnut table, server, and artwork contributes to its eclectic personality. FACING PAGE: By painting the molding a creamy white, the magnificent ceiling does not overpower the symmetrically designed dining room. The coffers, as well as the dome, are painted a tarnished gold, while the stenciled damask medallion emphasizes the stunning chandelier. Mirroring the elaborate coffered ceiling—designed by Jack Wright—the area rug was custom-designed in soft gold, repeating the Greek key pattern on the upholstered chairs.
