7 LEFT: Clean lines with a soothing palette was the theme for this master sitting room. Our clients did not want to obstruct the view of their property with fussy window treatments and opted for the textural simplicity of the woven shades. Textures played an important part of the design, f rom the smooth chenille upholstered pieces and faux leather storage ottoman to the lush pile of the trellis-pattern Oushak rug. FACING PAGE & BELOW: The 22-foot-high ceiling of this great room in our client's Georgian-style home was emphasized by the fireplace and drapery panels that f rame the view of their beautiful property. The palette of creamy white with pale blue accents is bright and airy, giving f resh appeal to a traditional design. The grand Sheridan-style bookcase and curved credenza create a strong silhouette against the soft white panel molding. The Chesterfield sofas are traditional in nature while the bench is more contemporary. Balance and contrast, new and old, was an ongoing theme. BELOW BOTTOM RIGHT: Balance and symmetry were important when designing the living room in this sprawling Manor-style home. We painted the walls a pale sand color, which offers a slight contrast to the trim and is the perfect backdrop for our furniture and America Martin contemporary artwork. The ceiling, which is painted a pale blue, is balanced with the paisley silk and wool rug that anchors the seating area. Pale blue, which is our accent color, is repeated with the drapery panels that f rame the windows. FACING PAGE TOP: The great room's large, open floorplan allows for two separate seating areas, which are articulated by custom area rugs. A marble- topped table and stunning floral arrangement divide these two areas while creating a focal point f rom the entry hallway. Floor-to-ceiling windows, which soar upward to the 22-foot ceilings, open out onto the home's spectacular views and are emphasized by gold satin panels.
