RIGHT: I originally wanted to change the paneling in this show house's library, but
now I'm glad I didn't because dark wood is making a comeback. The room is very
large but still warm and inviting—perfect for a book club.

BELOW BOTTOM RIGHT: Another example of splurging strategically is hanging one
mirror on top of another. It creates a sense of openness while providing a little bit
of bling.

BELOW BOTTOM LEFT: Making sure a color scheme flows f rom room to room is
important, especially if you're using memorable colors like apple green, blue, and
white. Faux green leather and durable fabrics can hold up to the young family, while
the grand piano is more than a decoration—the lady of the house is a professional
singer.

FACING PAGE TOP: This home is quite grand, with 10-foot ceilings and lots of space
to entertain. The hall table can actually expand to seat extra dinner guests, or serve
as an extra buffet as everyone arrives.
