RIGHT: This traditional home in Great Falls Virginia, received a complete revamp,
giving it new—and stylish— life. Painting the faux wood beams black created a high
contrast, and the draperies match the ceiling's stark geometry. Emerald accents
deliver just the right amount of pop.
BELOW RIGHT: The living room became a purposeful space for relaxing and chatting
in small groups by putting in chairs instead of one big sofa. The zebra "hide" rug is
actually needlepoint, which gives it extra depth and originality.
BELOW LEFT: The bay window area next to the kitchen used to have seating for four,
but now it gets much more use as a lounge area. The kids kick their feet up on the
chaises—blankets strategically keep the white upholstery clean—while Mom cooks,
and everyone gets to enjoy the beautiful views outside. Now, the office across the
hall has become the breakfast room and coffee bar, and everyone is much happier
with the changes.
