203 BELOW TOP: The clean, angular design of this home provides contrast to its rugged, modern desert setting. Carved into a mountainside, the home includes natural elements that we knew would work well here. The dining table is made of reclaimed eucalyptus wood and provides a warm visual link to the central fireplace. Its location in the room brings back the tradition of being in the center of the space. Floor-to-ceiling natural stone adds another layer of warmth, both literally and figuratively. BELOW BOTTOM: The client's vision for this home was reimagined mountain architecture. The architect captured it perfectly and I added on to that with the interiors. You'll notice an eclectic mix of architecture and interior design, creating a warm, contemporary environment set in the dramatic mountain landscape. An inverse peaked, wood-plank ceiling extends outside, over the floor-to-ceiling window wall. Stone, metal, and fire make for the ideal winter combination.
