27 BELOW: Stone and metal make this room both contemporary and warm. Because of the double-height ceiling, the room easily could have felt cold. We focused on creating a connection within the living space and drawing people in, so they would feel comfortable and relaxed. We found creative ways to display the homeowner's art, television, and dramatic fireplace, and ended up with a beautiful, rustic art piece for the living room. The homeowners wanted to use this fireplace and it was a struggle to incorporate metal and tile together in the setting, but we made it work beautifully. The result was an edgy, distinct aesthetic.
