BELOW & FACING PAGE BELOW: When we designed this kitchen in an architecturally traditional home, we knew the couple had a modern edge that should shine here.
Traditional cabinet pulls and crackle-style subway tiles marry with the traditional architecture while being complemented by the contemporary accents. The custom hood
has an eye-catching gold tuxedo stripe down the side. We opted for open shelves to lighten the room when too many traditional-style cabinets began to overwhelm the
space. You can see the blend of traditional and modern, with classic cabinets and quartz counters featuring contemporary lighting and seating selections, easing into
modern vibes. Fully remodeled and completely gutted, the kitchen originally had one large island, which was particularly troublesome for the not-so-tall lady of the house.
The solution we arrived at was to turn it into two separate islands with distinct purposes. One is meant for cooking and features two dishwashers, while the other is meant
for entertaining purposes and includes a wine f ridge and icemaker.

FACING PAGE TOP: Family-f riendly with plenty of sitting and serving space, this kitchen was remodeled and opened up into the main living area, where it had once been
separated. We used a trio of glass globes so they don't interrupt sight lines yet still create a divider. The house has a black-accent scheme throughout, and the traditional
hood here takes on a contemporary look with the deep color. Made of quartzite, the beautiful island counter has movement in the pattern, while the perimeter counter
appears still and solid. Beneath the island countertop is a deep iron-ore color, which blends with the family room decor.
