BELOW TOP: This 14‐foot‐wide bridge between public and private domains is a true pavilion, both a refuge and an invitation. In a damp forest underlain with sandstone
along Lake Superior, it is a constant play of light and air throughout the day, as the saturated ferns below drain uninterupted to the lakeshore.
BELOW BOTTOM: Inspired by rural French homesteads, the centerpiece of this new home is a limestone farmhouse with openings detailed in recycled oak, whose primary
floor places the structured kitchen, with lofted bedrooms above, between two light‐filled volumes of living and dining. The views are centered on a courtyard fountain and
the river's edge peninsula.
