ABOVE & RIGHT: A well-collected home needed a bit of coordination to mix current
pieces while editing out a few things that had served their time. The homeowners
are art collectors, so it was fitting to have a sense of eclecticism by introducing
the Murano glass chandelier with the antique mirror. Rich and elegant rugs and
window treatments brought a soft harmony to the room and, of course, I simply
cannot do a design without adding f resh flowers. I believe in never underestimating
the beautiful pops of color and scents they add, like the fuchsia and tangerine
against the celery green and gold walls.
FACING PAGE: I love getting inspiration f rom collections and objects that are
meaningful to my clients. Embracing their collections and finding a curated,
thoughtful way to display them brings inspiration and focus to the overall design
process. Grouping the collection of these fabulous wood pieces did just that. The
light and airy palette chosen for the room allows the collection, made up of both
new and old, to be studied without a cluttered effect. I brought in depth with a
hand-blown mirror f rom Germany to reflect the custom chandelier—with its
citrine crystals and coral bark—while adding metallic paper in the alcove gives a
touch of glam to keep the room ready for sparkling dinner parties.
