84 INSPIRED INTERIORS
BELOW: This waterf ront home on the bay near Sarasota was the first Florida home for a New York executive's family. To help them embrace a less formal lifestyle, we took
out a heavy Tuscan stone fireplace and created in its place a new wall with a gas fireplace surrounded by custom millwork. Now it's a relaxing entertaining space, complete
with a mirrored bar cabinet in the corner and gorgeous views of the bay.
FACING PAGE TOP: The family room of the same house overlooks the pool and boat dock, and is now a wonderful, casual place to watch television and play games. Texture
can add so much—here, the cocktail table is lacquered raffia topped with glass and the credenza is covered in beautiful mother of pearl, while the motorized window
treatments are made of embroidered linen.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: The blues and greens and creams of this downtown condo high-rise are inspired by its water view. We created a seamless transition between
indoors and out. Once again, textures inspire interest: the striated velvet Kravet chairs contrast with the hammered brass and glass cocktail table, while the wall on the
left is covered in sparkling pieces of mica.
