ABOVE TOP: An historic home on the shores of Lake Minnetonka had an unusual space oddly placed at the end of a great room which the owners had no idea how to
incorporate into the overall design. The solution was simple:, turn it into a bar. The owners now use it as a place to enjoy rare wines, toast in celebration, or savor a cigar. The
room was trimmed out in millwork and the walls and ceiling were lacquered in a high-gloss black Sherwin Williams color. The adjoining space sports a poker table and
chairs upholstered in a handsome wool plaid and leather combo. The room is also home to a cozy grouping of chairs surrounding a statement-making leopard ottoman,
trimmed in red leather with nailhead. The final touch was a one-of-a-kind bold art piece. This room was honored with the top National Award Design by IDS.
ABOVE BOTTOM: After a major remodel, the traditional bones of this bar and library space remained. The knackered wood was fully restored to a gorgeous luster. New rugs,
furnishings, art, and accessories were added. A few reupholstered antique pieces were a graceful complement to new modern barstools that were covered in a sumptuous
Ralph Lauren velvet. Curated pieces throughout give this space its elegant distinction.
