387 Karen Hattan Home by Hattan • 5020 Marc Drive, Nashville, TN 37211• 615.202.2721 When she began her staging and design career in 2014, Karen Hattan knew she wanted to combine her passion for helping people with her passion for beautiful design. Whether a family's story includes adoption, a child with a disability or emotional need, divorce, loss, or even new beginnings, she makes sure that compassionate listening is always the first step in her process. Using a whole-family approach and a series of in-depth consultations, she then uses creative problem solving and beautiful design solutions to address any special needs and create an uplifting and supportive home for the entire family. A Dutch word meaning "coziness," the idea also encompasses social concepts like inviting or friendly. When she moved back to the States, Jennifer set out to create her own "modern gezellig" aesthetic in both her clients' homes and her own. With the belief that a modern space can be warm and inviting as well as minimal and simple, Jennifer mixes family or heritage pieces, mementos from travels, and art and photos that hold personal meaning with clean, pared-down furnishings. The result is a space that displays intriguing contrast, depth, and texture—the definition of "modern gezellig."
