ABOVE: A sense of purpose and flow is found in the spaces of the homes I design. In this case, I arranged the
kitchen-dining-living areas to remain open to one another while wrapping the central courtyard in an L shape.
This enables owners and guests to readily mediate between active socializing and more solitary pursuits.
UPPER LEFT: The vaulted wood ceiling of the living room provides warmth and a sense of graciousness
conducive both to day-to-day activities and special occasions hosting larger gatherings of extended family
and f riends.
LOWER LEFT: With full-length sliding glass panels into the south-facing courtyard, the dining and living room
have a comfortable, easy flow between activities both inside and out.
FACING PAGE: The garden courtyard serves as the focal point of the social spaces of the house, flooding the
inhabitants with daylight yet maintaining privacy f rom neighbors. The close proximity of the gated courtyard
to both the driveway and entrance sides of the house enables flexibility of use for any occasion.
