Taylor Callaway and Kevin Witt were both introduced to architecture and building at an early age: Taylor by way of his
close childhood friend's father, and Kevin as a fifth-generation craftsmen and designer. Both boys developed a passion
for the craft of building that they maintained into adulthood, eventually leading them to start the Seattle-based firm
First Lamp in 2009. The partners both studied architecture in Italy—which influenced them dramatically—and received
their formal educations from Texas Tech. They also share fundamental design principles that they've developed over
the years. Taylor and Kevin build homes and structures that are meant to be sustainable and last multiple lifetimes, while
simultaneously creating spaces that are conducive to good health and happiness.
