ABOVE & FACING PAGE: Originally designed and built by Lionel Pries in 1930, the home reflects his affinity for Spanish/Mexican elements, f rom the clay tile roof to the cast stone lintel
over the f ront door. Several remodels over the years had created a mishmash of stylistic choices and a maze of rooms, which had diminished the home's original character. In addition
to improving and modernizing the home's inherent aesthetic qualities, the floorplan was in significant need of a rework. A large addition at the back of the house made space for a
larger kitchen, new sunroom, and butler's pantry, along with an additional bedroom suite on the second floor. New materials such as steel windows, brick, and clay roof tile were carefully
selected to blend in with the existing materials of the house.
