ABOVE & FACING PAGE: This new home was built atop an existing split-level home's foundation to satisfy a variety of zoning issues. The rebuilt first floor now
has liberating nine-foot ceilings, while the new second floor is dormered and vaulted to keep the appearance of the house low on the exterior. This approach
helped to secure an airy and interesting interior. The new ceiling heights, especially the soaring great room ceiling, brought much relief for the stifled and
cramped homeowners. Collaboration was the key to success here. With the client fully in step, the interior design is lively and crisp thanks to the creative work
of interior designer Karen Goodman of Copper Dot interiors. The design was executed by Fresh Start Contractors, who were equal to the task of crafting this
unique transitional design.
