the needs of the modernist homeowners who have a European background and favor a comfortable yet striking aesthetic. Everything on the property sits conveniently near the
home, including the tool house—a feature that defines the entry courtyard.
FACING PAGE: We responded to the client's desire for a modern home in an established community and arrived at a deceptively traditional look. Despite what you see at first
glance, the house possesses an array of contemporary elements. The f ront exterior shows off a play of light and dark with a mahogany-lined archway that pulls you in, while a slate
roof offers textural contrast against the smooth stucco facade.
