ABOVE & FACING PAGE: The Bedford Modern takes it cues f rom the sloped rock landscapes and the vernacular buildings of historical Westchester County. Stacked granite
chimneys bookend the house, further articulating the barn form, and the vertical oak siding was inspired by the very trees that surround the home. Long, narrow windows
allow morning light into the interior living space but keep views f rom the public drive to a minimum. The rear of the house, however, is opened up to the sloped and
wooded site below, maximizing sunlight and views, and the interior and exterior spaces nest seamlessly with one another. Inside, an open floorplan and a light and airy
stair allows for uninterrupted connections throughout the house. Features such as a double-height living room with exposed beams, shiplap wall and ceiling details, and
plain-sawn but clean-lined millwork all combine in the perfect marriage of rustication and refinement.
