ABOVE & FACING PAGE: This second-home residence was designed for a couple who have a passion for midcentury modernism and wanted their own derivative for their Naples,
Florida, retreat. The owners' requirement for a three-car garage resulted in two separate garage spaces which bookend the 4,500-square-foot house, creating a sense of privacy for
the main living space. The south-facing f ront façade contains extensive glass in a double-height configuration to take advantage of the abundant southwest Florida sun. A deep
roof overhang supported by exposed wood timber roof joists and a mid-glass cantilevered aluminum sunshade provide optimal shading performance for the living spaces within.
