3 Santa Barbara Architecture Santa Barbara, CA ABOVE: The entry and motor court emphasize timeless Santa Barbara Spanish Revival architecture, with massing and details reminiscent of local estates built in the 1920s and '30s. FACING PAGE: This Spanish Mediterranean embodies the best of Santa Barbara architecture, with lower-level walls crafted of sandstone quarried f rom boulders hand-cut on-site. The south façade is oriented toward the ocean and island views, thanks to Santa Barbara's unique east-west coastline. Covered terraces provide sun protection plus generous outdoor living space that benefits f rom the year-round lifestyle and mild climate. The wrought-iron railings are themed with agave center motifs–a nod to the property's agave orchard–while steel door units with narrow stiles maximize views.
