ABOVE & FACING PAGE: The homeowners sought a house that was site-specific, energy efficient, and would emphasize and be sympathetic to the natural setting—all while
having a strong design identity. Clad in a combination of honed and split-face limestone, the house fosters the connection to nature through large expanses of glass that
disappear on most summer days, blurring the lines between exterior and interior. Design elements reach out into the landscape and all levels seamlessly open to let the outside
in. The primary bedroom gives the sensation of sleeping on a cloud as it cantilevers out over the yard below. The tiered garden doubles as a retaining wall for the drive above.
